What is Toll Free Registration? 

As part of U.S. wireless carrier efforts to combat spam and improve the delivery of legitimate text messages, a significant industry-wide change is coming that may impact your ability to send SMS/MMS messages to your customers.

 

The toll-free number verification process qualifies messaging traffic to be tagged as verified with our downstream peers. The approved tag reduces the number of false-positive blocks and helps increase deliverability on a single toll-free number. 


When does it go into effect?

Beginning September 30, 2022, all toll-free numbers owners must register via their carriers.

Preferably , begin registration prior to that to avoid any interruptions in your service.


What can happen if I do not register my TFN/s?

If you do not register your TFN/s you may experience

  • Interruption in your SMS services from your TFN/s

  • Messages and/or number being flagged for fraud or spam

  • Messages being filtered for containing harmful words


Does it cost anything to verify my toll free number/s?

There is no charge for toll-free number verification. Just complete this form, and we’ll take care of the rest.


Is this only a requirement with Phone.com? 

No, this is an industry wide initiative to combat spam and fraud.


How long will it take to get registered?

Registration time frames vary. Upon completing the form we will submit it and notify you of submission within 3 business days.

The request will then be sent to the toll free aggregator, at this stage the review can take anywhere from 4-5 weeks.   The aggregator will then respond with approval, denial or ask clarifying questions.

During the 4-5 week period, the temporary carrier block is lifted.
